From the first of her days, Camille felt the sorrow. At first, her parents thought she could be operated, but soon the doctors –after careful exams- let them know this was not at all a possibility.

Her hunch deviated attention from her infinite tenderness, a kind heart and the most beautiful smile; making her feel the profound pain of rejection.

Without any friends, she dedicated most of her free time to drawing and painting a wonderful world; full of bright colors, cotton candy clouds, pink flowers with silver stars,  hundreds of butterflies everywhere. There she was beautiful, perfect, and always happy.

Camille grew feeling imprisoned, like one of her butterflies, inside the silent cocoon; waiting for the right moment to brake free and fly.

And the day finally came. An intense rush of effervescent excitement filled her; that’s when she knew: she was in love.

Adam  went to that same high school, in a different class, one year ahead. She hadn’t yet dared to approach him, until she decided to choose the end of term party to talk to him.

Camille bought the most beautiful dress, put on some make up and covered her shoulders with a silky chal, hid her sadness and adorned herself with the sparkling glow of hope and joy.

The decoration evoked the unique enchantment of spring, recreating vividly the magic atmosphere, often propense to awaken a lover’s heart.

Sweet melodies welcomed the gracious silhouette materialized at the entrance. Amazement and marvel impregnated the room, as everyone’s sight was conquered by the magnificent image.

Standing by the door, Camille was soon reached by her beloved’s hand.

They found themselves immerse in the most sublime of all dreams, while dancing, in ecstasy, carried by a sound beyond their senses.

Envy, however, neither remained unveiled. Seeing Camille in the embrace of the most attractive youth arose dark feelings in many of the female expectators; urging the vilest to unveil the secret.

Camille released herself from Adam, rapped in a painful cry; her delicate figure, once more, submerged in shadows.

Unsatisfied, her moonlight skin was pierced as a perverse result of her rival’s curiosity.

Suddenly, a feather, white and smooth, sprung from the wound. Astonished, nobody was capable of doing anything but gazing at the impressive transformation. Thousands of tender feathers rose above her shoulders, endowing her with a gorgeous pair of wings.

The angel smiled, with intense joy and peace. The building’s roof vanished, revealing the magnificent sky.

Gently, her wings swung, leading her through a night full of stars.
